This is one of the most important, haunting, amazing, things you can experience in Israel. On Yom HaShoah (Holocaust remembrance day), and on other days like the one that commemorates fallen soldiers and victims of terror, everyone stops what they’re doing to observe a minute or two of silence. Sirens go off around the country simultaneously, yearly reminding people of what they’ve gone through. Intense. Sirens start at about 45 seconds.
